The United Arab Emirates got off to a 15-run victory over Kenya on Tuesday in the first game of the Victoria Series at the Lugogo Cricket Oval.

This was after Kenya has won the toss and elected to field.

United Arab Emirates captain Chaya Mughal led her side, picking up 24 runs off 21 balls, including four boundaries, while Avanee Sunil Patil and Geethika Jyothis added 16 and 11 runs, respectively, putting the score at 89/9 for Kenya to chase.

The second innings saw Vanessa Ouko lead Kenya’s chase picking up 14 runs off 28 balls with one boundary.

Monicah Ndhambi closely followed with 11 runs off 22 balls, along with Sharon and Marion Juma, who each added 10 and 11 runs, respectively but were unable to come out on top.

Kenya fielded well, led by Lavender Idambo and Daisy Wairimu Nkoroge; each picked up two wickets in four overs, while Flavia Odiambo, Esther Wachira and Lynz Nabwire each picked up one wicket to limit UAE to 89/9.

UAE’s Lavanya Keny and Induja Nandakumar managed two wickets each as the Gulf nation limited Kenya to 69/10.

UAE will next face Tanzania at 9 am on Wednesday at the Lugogo Cricket Oval.
