Mukasa who is regarded as one of the best batsmen to feature for Uganda in the last decade was hoping to stretch his 3554 runs record further.

As the Cricket Cranes made their way to the crease to face Botswana in their Continental Africa Cup T20 tournament, Roger Mukasa had one thing on his mind, to help the team in any way possible.

Mukasa who is regarded as one of the best batsmen to feature for Uganda in the last decade was hoping to stretch his 3493 runs record further.

And he did just that when him and Simon Ssesazi opened up for Uganda to chase Botswana’s 114 runs.

Roger Mukasa put up 41(18) including four boundaries and three sixes as Uganda earned a six wicket win over Botswana and enabled him to reach 3500 runs, making him Uganda’s highest runs scorer in all cricket formats.

"I felt good reaching the milestone but i didnt expect it, I am encouraged to keep working hard to achieve more in cricket, my role was to hit the first six overs, the power play,” Mukasa said before adding.

“I simply backed myself and my skills especially when the ball was in my zone, the wicket was great too so I just took on the bowlers.”

“I also was doing the basics and following the instructions we were given,” the 34 years noted.

Mukasa will now be expected to guide the Cricket Cranes past Kenya in their second game of the tournament on Saturday, Kenya also started off with a three wicket win over Rwanda.
