Mahatlane says that as much as Uganda faced some teams in December during their Tri-Nations tournament victory, it will be a different ball game because teams are better prepared.
The Uganda Cricket Cranes head coach Laurence Mahatlane has sounded a warning as his charges prepare to play at the Continent Cup T20 tournament in Nairobi, Kenya.
Mahatlane says that as much as Uganda faced some teams in December during their Tri-Nations tournament victory, it will be a different ball game because teams are better prepared.
“It’s two different teams from the ones we faced in Kigali; for example, Botswana are Southern Africa T20 champions, so they will be coming off with a lot of confidence," Mahatlane told Pulse Sports.
“For Kenya, we didn’t face them in Kigali, but they’re home, so we expect tough competition and fight, but that’s what sport is about, intensity and competition," he added.
The former U-19 South African head coach added that aggression and a good strike rate will be fundamental for his side to succeed at the showpiece.

CRICKET Captain Masaba ready to take debutants Obuya and Siraje under his wings ahead of the Continent Cup T20
The all-rounder, who will lead his side to the inaugural Continent Cup T20 in Nairobi later this week, was in the same welcoming mood regarding the two debutants on the team.
“It will be about the strike rate, aggression, and consistently taking wickets because we have some firepower despite missing a few bowlers like Cosmas Kyewuta and Juma Miagi, so for fielding, we just have to bring the energy,” the South African noted.
Mahatlane and the rest of the squad will hope that debutants Siraje Juma and Obuya Robinson grab the opportunity with both hands.
The team flagged off on Tuesday morning and is expected to play their first game on Friday against Botswana.
The Continent Cup T20 tournament is in its inaugural season. Uganda, who last played T20 cricket in December when they won the Tri-Nations tourney hosted in Kigali, will be up against hosts Kenya, Botswana, Rwanda and Tanzania.
