The trailer reveal which took place in Amsterdam on Thursday, was met with mixed reactions on social media.
However, during the event, EA announced some big changes coming to FIFA’s successor - FC 24, and this article we reveal a number of them shortly.
EA Sports FC 24: 9 things to know about FIFA's successor
1. There is no love lost between EA and FIFA
The event opened with a lengthy monologue from EA CEO Andrew Wilson, who explained his long history with the sport, including his work at EA Sports.
However, all through the event generally, the word ‘FIFA’ was not mentioned.
This further reveals that despite EA’s divorce from FIFA, both parties are still not on friendly terms.
In October 2021, The New York Times reported that FIFA had started discussions with EA in the prior two years on renewing these rights towards an exclusivity deal but with several caveats that made negotiations difficult.
In June 2022, it was reported that EA and FIFA would part ways over licensing disagreement, with EA immediately confirming plans to roll out their own game independent of football’s governing body.
But FIFA has also revealed plans to continue the franchise and rival EA Sports FC.
A statement from FIFA president Giani Infantino confirmed football’s governing body is actively planning to launch its own rival soccer game following FIFA’s split with EA Sports.
“The new FIFA game – the FIFA 25, 26, 27, and so on – will always be the best game for any girl or boy, we will have news on this very soon.” Infantino was quoted to have said.
Nonetheless, it remains to be seen when FIFA’s new game will launch as fans have already crowned EA Sports FC as teh true successor to the iconic FIFA franchise.
2. EA Sports have acquired a license of major leagues in European football
During the announcement on Thursday, the company also announced “exclusive” agreements with both the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League.
These were announced by having superstar legends of the game like Luis Figo carry the LaLiga trophy to the stage, Didier Drogba carrying the Premier League Trophy to the stage and Ronaldinho bringing on stage the Champions League trophy.
3. EA Sports FC 24 Release Date Officially Confirmed
During a live-streamed event of EA Sports FC 24 Trailer reveal, the publisher announced that its new soccer franchise will debut in early access on September 22nd before a global launch on September 29th.
4. EA Sports FC 24 will run on three new Technologies
EA SPORTS also announced that new game will run on three new, cutting-edge technologies that will see EA SPORTS FC 24 deliver unparalleled realism in every match.
The technologies include:
- HyperMotionV
Following the introduction of HyperMotion1 and 2.0, in FIFA 22, and FIFA 23 respectively, EA Sports cited HyperMotionV as the biggest leap forward in realism to date, translating the rhythm and fluidity of real-world football into 'The World’s Game' using volumetric data from more than 180 professional men’s and women’s football matches.
EA Sports used these real-life matches to reflect real-world movement in-game more than ever before.
- PlayStyles optimised by Opta
This technology gives athletes a variety of dimensions to bring to life the on-pitch abilities that make players special.
Each PlayStyle gives players unique capabilities with their motion, posture, and other features to make their way of playing more authentic.
- Frostbite Engine
An enhanced Frostbite™ Engine delivers The World’s Game in lifelike detail, bringing a new level of immersion through redesigned player models, smoother animations and visibly unique characteristics that make each player special.
The kits in EA Sports FC 24 will now move like real-world materials, reacting to a player’s stride, shifting as they change direction, and flowing along with them as they play.
5. Addition of 2 new Women’s Leagues
EA Sports FC 24 will expand EA’s presence in women’s club soccer which actually started in FIFA 23.
EA Sports FC ambassador and former England international Alex Scott, announced there will be two new leagues, covering professional clubs in Germany and Spain, as well as the addition of women’s soccer to the popular “Ultimate Team” mode.
What this means is that, EA SPORTS FC 24 is bringing men and women’s football together to play on the same pitch for the first time.
Players will be able to experience brand-new Ultimate Team™ features, including welcoming women footballers to the pitch for the first time in Ultimate Team™ for players to craft their dream XI.
7. Erling Haaland is EA Sports FC 24 Cover Star
In the last segment of the announcement, Manchester City and Norway striker, Erling Haaland, was unveiled as the EA SPORTS FC 24 cover star, having helped his club to a historic treble-winning season with Manchester City, including the record number of goals scored in a Premier League season.
“Every footballer dreams of being the cover star. I am proud to play a major role in the launch of the new era of the world’s leading football game in EA SPORTS FC,” said Erling Haaland.
“The first time I held the cover in my hands, my immediate reaction was to think, just imagine if I could show this to myself 10 years ago. I hope that this can also inspire the next generation to believe in themselves to achieve their dreams. It’s an honour not only to be on this cover, but also the Ultimate Edition cover alongside my illustrious peers and legends of the world’s game such as Johan Cruyff, Pelé, Zinédine Zidane, Ronaldinho, Didier Drogba and many more.”
8. EA SPORTS FC 24 Founders Status
EA SPORTS announced Founders Status to celebrate the fans who join EA SPORTS FC at the start of a new era for The World’s Game. Fans who play EA SPORTS FC 24 by 1 November 2023 will become an FC Founder and unlock benefits including an exclusive Founder badge and kit to represent their status for years to come
9. EA Sports FC 24 Platforms
EA Sports FC 24 will be available on the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X / S, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
However, HyperMotionV technology is only available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC versions.
Meanwhile, EA Play members will receive early access to the game with a 10-hour trial beginning on September 22.
