Being in and out of the treatment room for most of the first round also didn’t help matters for Bbale, but all that is in the past after he rediscovered his scoring touch.

Bbale is SC Villa’s leading goal scorer in league with six goals, three behind the league’s leading sharpshooters in Maroons’ Fred Amaku and Express FC’s Allan Kayiwa.

SC Villa head coach Jackson Magera says it was all down to changing Bbale’s mindset.

“ He (Bbale) struggled with injuries in the first round, but I kept telling him his time will come because I trust him,” Magera told Pulse Sports.

“When he got better, I told him to have the right mentality and believe in himself, and I am happy he listened to me; he is a technically gifted player contrary to what many think about him.”

Baale’s brace against Onduparaka FC and the strike against Soltilo Bright Stars, along with his winner against arch-rivals Express FC, are some of the critical goals that have helped the Jogoos reach the summit of the league.

The left-footed gangly forward was signed from Terrazo and Tiles and is notably remembered for scoring seven goals for Masaza side Gomba as they went on to win the 2020/2021 title.
