Isabirye replaced Beto Bianchi on March 12th, losing only once in five games domestically and on the continent.

Vipers coach Alex Isabirye believes that the club is on the right track after working with them for a month.

Isabirye replaced Beto Bianchi on March 12th, losing only once in five games domestically and on the continent.

The coach will look to steer the club that he beat in the Stanbic Uganda Cup final last season to a double in this.

“We’ve been struggling lately but I think that we’re on the right track,” Isabirye said ahead of their game against Calvary in the quarterfinal on Friday.

“We’re trying to come back stronger. If you compare when I joined and where we’re now, I think there’s an improvement, but we’re not yet there.

Ssentamu comeback

Isabirye talked about the players’ character, which he says has improved. He picked striker Yunus Ssentamu for special praise.

“When you look at the way the players are behaving on the pitch, for example, you can see that a player like Yunus is improving; his character is changing by the day and I have trust in him.

“I know that he can do better than that because you can see his fight, character and urge to win the game,” Isabirye added.
