West Ham secured their first win of the season by defeating Chelsea despite going one man down in the second half.

Both teams played a draw in their first Premier League game of the season and are still looking for their first win.

However, it was West Ham who were able to get the win by defeating Chelsea 3-1 at the London Stadium.

West Ham scored the first goal of the game through Nayef Aguerd’s goal but Chelsea found the equaliser from Carney Chukwuemeka’s goal.

The home side took the lead in the early minute of the second half from a Michail Antonio strike and Lucas Paqueta crowned the win for West Ham in injury time.

As it happened

West Ham made one change to the lineup that began the 1-1 draw at Bournemouth with the introduction of James Ward-Prowse, who replaced Pablo Fornals.

Also starting is Lucas Paqueta, whose transfer to Manchester City has been put on hold as the Football Association looks into possible betting rule violations.

Meanwhile, Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino made one change to their side that drew to Liverpool with Malo Gusto making his first start and replacing Reece James.

Romeo Lavia, who recently moved from Southampton, is not in the team, but Moises Caicedo, who formerly played for Brighton, is one of the substitutes.

The home side started the game brightly and got two corners in quick succession with the second leading to the opening goal.

James Ward-Prowse's second corner finds Nayef Aguerd at the back post and the West Ham defender is totally unmarked to power a header past Rob Sanchez.

Chelsea pushed forward with more men to get the equaliser which later came in the 28th minute.

West Ham failed to clear the ball which fell to the feet of Carney Chukwuemeka on the edge of the box, shuffled in and leathers a shot past Alphonse Areola.

Chelsea later had the chance to take the lead in the 43rd minute when Raheem Sterling danced towards the box and Tomas Soucek clattered him right on the line of the box. The referee points to the spot.

The Premier League's record signing Enzo Fernandez steps up to try to score his first Premier League goal but Alphonse Areola guessed right and dived down low to his right and parried it away.

The referee blew the whistle for the end of the first half with both teams still looking for their first win of the season.

The second half began and West Ham created the first chance which led to their second goal of the game.

In the 53rd minute, Jarrod Bowen finds Michail Antonio with a nice ball over the top and the West Ham striker suddenly lashes in a shot from 20 yards through Disasi's legs and into the far bottom corner.

The goalscorer for the home side Nayef Aguerd received his matching order after sliding in on Nicolas Jackson but gets a lot of shins and no ball.

Despite the red card to West Ham, they still managed to get the third goal of the game to kill Chelsea’s hope.

Moises Caicedo who has had a very shaky debut for Chelsea brought down Emerson in the box and the referee pointed to the spot.

West Ham midfielder Lucas Paqueta does a stop-start run-up... and sends Rob Sanchez the wrong way.

The referee blew the final whistle of the game leaving Chelsea with no win in their first two games and their first loss in the new season.
