15-year-old Clarys Mideva from Busia has expressed her gratitude to Sports CS Ababu Namwamba after bagging thousands from the Talanta Hela tournament.

15-year-old football player Clarys Mideva is over the moon after her hard work during the Talanta Hela Under 19 football tournament was rewarded handsomely.

Mideva represented Busia ladies in the inaugural tournament that ended last year in December where she steered the team to take the top prize in the girl’s category.

In the final, they defeated Kisumu 2-1 in the closely contested final played at the Nyayo National Stadium on December 12.

The youngster has been awarded Ksh 160,000 thanks to her team’s incredible performance in the tournament.

Speaking after receiving the money, Mideva noted that she would use the money to help her family and added that the money would also be channeled to pay for her school fees at Butere Girls High School.

“When we went for the tournament, we did our best. I am glad that I am reaping this today. I will use this money to pay my school fees. I will also help my parents back at home since I come from a humble background,” she disclosed.

The youngster also expressed her gratitude to Sports CS Ababu Namwamba for the initiative to ensure sportsmen and women earn from their talent.

“I want to thank our principal for allowing us to play that game. Our families too for supporting us during the tournament. We also extend our heartfelt thanks to CS Ababu Namwamba for making this happen. We look forward to winning more money next time,” she said.

The team won Ksh 5 million and 80% of the money was paid to the players while the remaining 20% was distributed to the team officials.
