2025 AFCON: Super Eagles to camp in Abidjan for Benin clash

Nigeria tops Group D with 10 points from four games, and a draw in either match will ensure qualification for the 2025 AFCON.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria will set up camp in Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire, ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Benin Republic.

Coach Austin Eguavoen-led team is scheduled to open camp on Monday, November 10th in Abidjan.

However, the match against Benin will take place on Thursday, November 14th, at the Felix Houphet Boigny Stadium.

Four days later, Nigeria will be back home to host Rwanda on Monday, November 18th, at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo.

Caretaker coach Augustine Eguavoen is expected to announce his squad for both fixtures later this week.

CAF awards Nigeria winner over Libya 'hostage' incident

Meanwhile, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) awarded the Super Eagles three points and three goals after the Libya Football Federation was found to have breached multiple regulations regarding the treatment of the Nigerian team.

Nigeria was held hostage for over 20 hours at Al-Abraq Airport in their last game.

The match, initially set for October 15 in Benghazi, faced major logistical problems. The Nigerian team's flight was unexpectedly diverted, landing them at a distant airport.

Upon arrival, they were stranded for nearly a full day without sufficient food or water, sparking widespread outrage and condemnation from Nigerian officials and fans.
