The Uganda Cranes were drawn in Group G of the CAF 2026 World Cup qualifiers on Thursday alongside Algeria, Somalia, Mozambique, Botswana, and Guinea.

Only two teams in the group have the approval to host international games by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

Algeria has five approved stadiums, including the Stade du 5 Juillet 1962, Nelson Mandela Stadium, Stade du 19 mai 1956, Stade Chahid Hamlaoui, and Complexe olympique d'Oran.

Mozambique is the other team in the group with a stadium approved in the Estadio Nacional do Zimpeto.

The rest of the team will have to find alternatives on where to host their games, making it a fascinating journey to North America in 2026.

Uganda has recently hosted their home games in Cameroon against Algeria and Egypt against Tanzania.

With the Mandela National Stadium undergoing renovation, many Ugandans hope the stadium will be ready when the qualification campaign begins in November 2023.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup is set to be the first expansion and change in the competition's format since 1998.

The tournament will take place from a yet-to-be-determined date in June to July 19, 2026, and will be jointly hosted by 16 cities in three North American countries; USA, Mexico, and Canada.
