Nigeria's Raphael Onyedika and his Club Brugge side were humiliated and thrashed out of the Champions League by goal-crazy Benfica.
Portuguese giant SL Benfica have eased into the UEFA Champions League, UCL, following a six-goal thriller against Club Brugge.
Benfica were no match for the Belgians and their Nigerian defensive midfielder, Raphael Onyedika, after a convincing 5-1 in their UCL round of 16 second leg tie on Tuesday night at the Estadio do Sport, Lisbon.
The five-star performance in the Champions League from the Eagles on the night was inspired by talented young forward, Goncalo Ramos, who scored two of the goals and assisted another one the night.
Following the rout against Club Brugge on aggregate, Benfica set some impressive records in the Champions League. Here are four of those records from the Eagles.
Biggest Champions League home win
Benfica's impressive win over Club Brugge on Tuesday night saw them record their biggest-ever win at home in the Champions League.
Goals from Rafa Silva, Ramos, who netted a brace, Joao Mario and David Neres helped the Eagles to an easy 5-1 win at home over Club Brugge.
The win was their biggest at home in the Champions League, having won 3-0 on three different occasions.
Second quarterfinal ticket in a row in 54 years
Benfica's win on Tuesday earned them an aggregate 7-1 win over Club Brugge after a 2-0 win in the first leg in Belgium.
It was a historic night indeed for the Eagles who booked their place in the Champions League quarterfinal for the second time in a row.
Their qualification on Tuesday night was only the first time Benfica have reached the quarterfinal of the Champions League in successive seasons since 1968/69 season.
Ramos show in the Champions League
With his impressive performance and brace against Club Brugge last night, the 21-year-old made history in the Champions League.
Ramos has become the youngest Portuguese player to score twice in a Champions League knockout match.
The impressive youngster has achieved this feat at the age of 21 years and 260 days.
Benfica will wait for the quarterfinal and semifinal draws slated for March 17 to find out which team they will face next in the Champions League.
