Barcelona have identified five players who need to leave to help them finance summer transfers
LaLiga giants Barcelona are looking to sell at least five players in the summer as they continue the cost-cutting efforts that will allow them to be active in the summer transfer window ahead of the 2023/24 season.
Barcelona looking to move five players on to free up summer funds
The champions of the 2022/23 campaign are in dire financial straits, which contributed to their not being able to re-sign Argentine star Lionel Messi this summer, and part of their plans to overcome their money problems includes selling a number of fringe players in this summer’s transfer window.
As Barcelona cannot sign any new players without letting some go due to LaLiga’s financial fair play regulations, the club has reportedly identified five players who will be allowed to leave to free up some wages for new signings.

The players include French defender Samuel Umtiti, who had an impressive 2022/23 season while out on loan at Lecce, helping the side stay afloat in Serie A, as well as his compatriot Clement Lenglet, who was also out on loan in the Premier League with Tottenham.
In addition to the pair of French defenders, Barcelona will also reportedly be keen on the sales of youngsters Sergino Dest, Alex Collado, and Gustavo Maia.
According to reports from Spain, the sale of all five players could help Barcelona save up to €50 million in wages alone, a significant windfall in what the Blaugrana hope will be a very competitive summer transfer window.
With Barcelona chasing deals for players like Ilkay Gundogan, Sofyan Amrabat, and Vitor Roque, they will be hoping to find buyers for all five players to enable them finance any possible transfers.
