Super Eagles winger Chidera Ejuke earned the praise of his teammate ahead of their crucial clash against Hansi Flick's charges.
High-flying Ejuke hits a halt against Barcelona
The 26-year-old has been one of the most exciting players in the Spanish top flight this season. He leads the division in dribbles completed per 90 and was on course for a sensational debut season.
However, his progress has now been halted after he pulled his hamstring in the 5-1 defeat against Barcelona. Nigeria was billed to wreak havoc against the Blaugrana, but he had to be substituted just before halftime.
The worst was feared after Ejuke was helped onto the sidelines; now, after tests have been done, the club can confirm that he will be sidelined for a significant amount of games.
Ejuke out for three months
Sevilla announced via their social media that the former Royal Antwerp winger sustained a high-grade tear to his hamstring.
According to Relevo, the injury will keep him out of action for at least three months. The current timeline is contingent on his response to conservative treatment, as if surgery is required, he will be ruled out for even longer.
Ejuke's early season form earned him a call-up in the Super Eagles squad for the last international break. However, the unfortunate circumstances in Libya prevented him from making his first Super Eagles appearance since 2022. He would have to wait till next year to get his 9th cap, as he will miss the matches against Benin Republic and Libya next month.
