The Umuahia club made a return to their home ground for the first time in 1040 days, and treated their fans to a 4-thriller.
Group B of the 2023 NPFL entered its second phase on Wednesday, with Abia Warriors nicking their second victory of the season to sit comfortably at the top of their divide.
It was the Umuahia club's first return to their home ground having played at temporary venues since March 2020 - a total of 1040 days.
Wednesday also saw Dakkada and Lobi Stars pick up their fight wins of the new season, victories they both had to dig deep to get.
Abia Warriors 3-1 Bayelsa United
Motivated by their opening day victory over Enugu Rangers, Abia Warriors went into the Umuahia Township Stadium for their second game of the season, extra hyper.
In as early as the second minute, they got their first goal of the game, with Kalu Nweke scoring with a simple tap-in. Upon return for the second half, the Abia club extended their lead, this time Bello Lukman Idowu finishing off a pocket pass from Henry Udezuka.
The latter stages of the game saw Bayelsa United attempt to fight back through Ekeson Okorie's goal, however, Udezuka turned from provider to goal scorer, restoring Abia Warriors' two-goal lead and giving them their 8th consecutive league victory at home.
Dakkada 2-1 Wikki Tourist
The Godswill Akpabio Stadium saw Dakkada back up their away performance in the first week of the season with a home win on Wednesday.
Despite going down early in the game to a goal by Ismaila Mayaiki, the Uyo-club fought back to secure a 2-1 win thanks to Kufre Ebong and Aniekan Ekpe. The win sees them temporarily move to second in Group B and behind Abia Warriors.
Lobi Stars 1-0 Rangers
Despite coming into the game at the New Jos Stadium in a similar situation, Wednesday saw Lobi Stars finish the day as the happier side.
Game week one defeat at the hands of Abia Warriors and Rivers United had seen Rangers and Lobi, respectively, sit at the bottom of Group B prior to Wednesday. However, an 83rd-minute goal by Atule Joseph was all the Markurdi-club needed to change their secure their first points of the season.
