The English star scored a brilliant solo goal as Jose Mourinho’s men strengthened their hopes of qualifying for the Champions League next season.

Jose Mourinho’s AS Roma moved into the Champions League spots following a 2-0 win over Spezia in their Serie A clash at Stadio Alberto Picco on Sunday evening.

Going into the game, Mourinho’s men were seventh, three points outside the top four, but they were handed a lifeline after Juventus were handed 15 reduction points for financial irregularities.

Roma took advantage of this huge opportunity with a comfortable 2-0 win over Luca Gotti’s men.

Mourinho’s men came into the match with an unbeaten start to the year, and they kept it that with a comfortable start at Stadio Alberto Picco.

Roma dominated the early proceedings, with Spezia struggling to get a grip on the game. I Giallorossi’s first chance of the game came through Nicola Zalewski, who had a penalty shout after he was brought down in the box. However, referee Simone Sozza waived away Roma’s appeal.

Roma continued to press for the opener, and they were rewarded for their persistence as Stephan El-Shawarary finished off a sweet counter-attacking move that involved Tammy Abraham and Paulo Dybala.

The goal ensured Mourinho’s men went into the break with the lead. Roma resumed the second half with the same purpose the same way they ended the first, and they got their reward four minutes after the restart through Abraham’s solo goal.

The former Chelsea man received a ball from Dybala just outside the halfway before evading his marker brilliantly to slot past Bartlomiej Dragowski in Spezia’s goal.

Abraham killed all hopes Spezia had, with Roma seeing out the rest of the match comfortably. The victory sees Roma move up to fourth on the table with 37 points- same with third-place Inter Milan, although Roma have played a game more.
