A first-of-its-kind tournament for girls under the age of 15 will see keen competition for two days in Lagos.

Lagos Tigers and Kidsports FC have proudly joined forces to co-host the first exclusive private Secondary School football tournament for girls this March.

The two academies are set and excited to be delivering this in the year of the women’s World Cup in Australia.

“We are focused on pushing the development of the girls' game to give girls more equal development opportunities in football,” both outfits noted in a statement.

The competition

The event is a two-day competition slated for March 7 and 8, which happens to be International Women’s Day.

Six schools will battle it out to become the champion led by Meadow Hall Education.

Some of the confirmed schools for the competition.

Other schools in the competition include Corona Secondary School Agbara and Lekki, the Riverbank School, Fountain Heights, and Princeton School.

The competition will be sponsored by Ritefoods, Top Pro Football management, Kingmakers, Commix Limited Dataleum and Project Lean Juices.

There will be cash prizes as well as a main winner and second runner trophy event. All the lucky girls will receive certificates and access to free data science training.

The two-day event will take place at Meadowhall, Meadowhall way off Lekki express, Lagos. The matches are expected to kick off at 9 am. Special guests in sports are in attendance.
