AFC Leopards coach revises season's target despite impressive run

AFC Leopards coach Tomas Trucha seems to have beat a retreat in terms of his team's season targets even as they continue winning.

AFC Leopards coach Tomas Trucha feels a top three finish is out of reach for his team just days after saying it was achievable.

Trucha watched his side move to fourth on the FKF Premier League table when Victor Omune's strike handed them a 1-0 victory against Kenya Police on Wednesday.

Ingwe are now on 47 points, six behind third placed Tusker FC, but level with Bandari and Nairobi City Stars with four games remaining.

That has seen Leopards fans reignite hopes of a podium finish but Trucha does not feel it's possible.

"Top three is too far because there is a big gap between us and Tusker. We want to try to be top six, that I believe is achievable," Trucha said, as per Nation.

Trucha's sentiments came a few days after he had expressed a desire to seal a top three finish in the wake of his side's 3-0 thrashing of FC Atlanta on Sunday.

"I believe we can secure a position in the top three if we maximise our remaining five matches. We must sustain our momentum and strive to secure maximum points from each fixture," he said then.

However, while Trucha now targets a top six finish, a podium place is still possible if they maintain their winning run while Tusker drop points.

Leopards take on Bidco United in their next match in Machakos on Sunday.
