Ingwe faces uphill battle as two key players undergo surgery for knee injuries posing challenges for the struggling team.

AFC Leopards are grappling with a severe setback as two of their key players are set to spend a significant amount of time on the sidelines.

Influential defender Lewis Bandi and young goalkeeper Abubakar Musha have undergone surgery to address persistent knee injuries.

This news comes as AFC Leopards prepares to face off against the league's bottom-placed team, Sofapaka, in a crucial clash scheduled for Saturday.

Both players have been battling stubborn injuries which prompted the need for arthroscopy, a medical procedure designed to diagnose and treat joint problems.

"Lewis Bandi and Abubakar Musha have today both undergone successful surgery to repair their torn meniscus—an injury that has kept them out of action for a while," reads the club statement.

Bandi, in particular, had not featured for the club since their FKF Cup match against Kakamega Homeboys, highlighting the severity of his injury.

Musha, on the other hand, has been yet to make his debut for the club, making his road to recovery all the more crucial for AFC Leopards.

"We wish the two a speedy recovery, and we are looking forward to seeing them back on the field soon," the statement adds.

However, the situation remains uncertain for their captain, Washington Munene, who continues to be sidelined due to an injury sustained during the clash with Bandari in Mombasa on October 22.

Adding to the injury concerns, key midfielder Cliff Nyakeya has been grappling with his own injury troubles, having missed four consecutive matches due to a calf injury sustained during AFC Leopards' hard-fought 1-0 victory against Nzoia Sugar FC.

Furthermore, AFC Leopards' first-choice goalkeeper, Levis Opiyo, is set to undergo an ultrasound examination on his knee to determine the root cause of his pain.

The season has been a challenging one for AFC Leopards, with the team struggling to create scoring opportunities.

Their goal return of just seven goals in 11 matches reflects Ingwe offensive struggles.
