Bidco United brushed aside Sofapaka as KCB thumps Vihiga Bullets.
AFC Leopards and Kariobangi Sharks played to a goalless draw of more than reasonable quality when they met in a Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) match at the Nyayo National Stadium on Sunday.
The match got off to a lively start with Sharks pressing Ingwe in search of an early goal which would have unsettled the hosts' defence.
Fortune Omotto missed a chance to put Sharks ahead in the eighth minute, sending a cheeky loop on Levis Opiyo but his effort went over the bar.
Sharks goalkeeper Kevin Ouru had to pull off a fine save to deny Jafari Owiti, who was looking to hit the back of the net with a curling shot.
Tedian Esilaba who was making his fourth consecutive start after a lengthy injury layoff had to produce a world-class interception to deny Omotto a strike at goal with just the goalkeeper to beat following a quick move by Sharks.
AFC Leopards were looking to play crosses into the hosts' box for Oloniyi Ojo, who had a chance to open the scoring just before the half-time break. The Nigerian striker connected with Cliff Nyakeya's cross, but Sharks keeper Ouru was well-positioned to make a save.
The two teams were locked at 0-0 at the interval following the first half, with several clear-cut chances for both sides.
Ingwe started the second half like a house on fire as they applied some pressure, and they came close to breaking the deadlock through their talisman Victor Omune.
Sharks created a rare chance following a quick move after the hour-mark, with Leopards having pushed forward in numbers.
Tyson Otieno found space outside the host's box before unleashing a low shot that Opiyo easily saved.
The former Gor Mahia shot-stopper nearly handed Sharks a goal when he came out for a routine save, only for the ball to go through his hands before rolling inches wide of his goalposts.
Patrick Aussems then made a change, pulling out Brian Wanyama for Eugene Mukangula as the Ingwe searched for a late winner.
Leopards pressed Sharks in the game's closing stages, but Olaniyi and Nyakeya were wasteful as they dragged their shots wide of the target from good positions.
Sharks managed to contain Leopards in the dying minutes of the game, and ultimately, the two teams settled for a share of the spoils.
In other Sunday matches, Bidco United and KCB recorded wins against Sofapaka and Vihiga United, respectively.
Bidco put on a thoroughly competent and professional showing to beat Sofapaka 2-0 in a match played at Kasarani Annex Stadium.
Peter Nzuki scored the opening goal of the match in the 41st minute from a dangerous area.
However, Sofapaka were unable to restore parity , and Bidco were deservedly 1-0 up during the half-time break.

Samuel Ndung'u then made it 2-0 for Bidco in the 55th minute after controlling the ball well, and he scored with a good finish.
The result takes Bidco up to ninth place on the log, while Sofapaka remained ninth after a second successive league game without a victory.

At Bukhungu Stadium, KCB secured a 3-0 win over Vihiga Bullets.
It took only fifteen minutes for the Bankers to break the deadlock after the Vihiga defense was exposed. Kennedy Owino was the man who punished the hosts as he headed into the back of the net from Kevin Okumu's pinpoint cross.
Nicholas Kipkirui set up Henry Onyango, who hit the back of the net to make it 2-0 to KCB in the 77th minute with the Bullets' defense caught napping.
The victory was sealed by Maurice Owino, who converted a penalty in the 90th minute, and KCB recorded a 3-0 win.
The win took the Bankers to second place on the league standings, while the Bullets remained rooted at the bottom of the 18-team table.
