The AFC Leopards defender has explained how Ingwe executed their game plan after learning how poor the playing surface would be at Kenyatta stadium in Machakos.
AFC Leopards defender Kennedy Owino has disclosed that his side were out to use set pieces to bring down his former side Posta Rangers due to the poor state of the pitch at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.
Owino was the match winner as he rose high to head home Brain Wanyama’s corner in the 40th minute and hand Leopards all three points as they returned to winning ways in the league.
With the Machakos turf in bad conditions due to the ongoing rains and the its overuse, both teams could not play a sleek passing game and had to rely on aerial balls to get going.

Owino returns to haunt Posta Rangers as AFC Leopards prepare for Gor Mahia with victory
Kennedy Owino downed his former side Posta Rangers as he helped AFC Leopards return to winning ways ahead of next weekend’s Mashemeji derby against bitter rivals Gor Mahia.
Owino has admitted Tomas Trucha’s men worked on the strategy throughout the week after learning what they would be subjected to in Machakos
“We have been working on this in training in the last few games but it did not go well. However, the delivery guys did their job well,” Owino told Azam TV after Sunday’s 1-0 victory against Posta Rangers.
“The pitch was not good and we had to play one-way football. We had to rely on set pieces, we knew the pitch was not going to be good so we worked on it a lot.”

Gor Mahia warm up for Mashemeji Derby with victory over relegation threatened Nzoia Sugar
Gor Mahia warmed up for the Mashemeji Derby in style by silencing Nzoia Sugar to return to winning ways and move nine points clear at the top of the table.
Indeed, Leopards used the set pieces to trouble Posta Rangers with Wanyama on point with his deliveries from corners.
One of those nearly broke the deadlock after Luke Namanda headed home only for Peter Oudo to make a goal line clearance while Clifton Miheos and Jaffari Owiti drew good saves from Posta Rangers goalkeeper John Njau after testing him from distance.
Trucha admitted his side executed the game plan well which was a good motivation ahead of the weekend’s Mashemeji derby clash against Gor Mahia.

Tusker's title hopes dealt severe blow as they blow a lead to lose 3-1 to FC Talanta
“We wanted to return to winning ways which is a good motivation ahead of the big one. On such a pitch, you cannot effect football so it was not about me but the players,” said Trucha.
