AFC Leopards got a statement win against Tusker FC at the Dandora after recent woeful performances.

AFC Leopards delivered a commanding 4-1 victory over Tusker FC at Dandora Stadium on Wednesday, snapping the Brewers' four-match winning streak in emphatic fashion.

Leopards, who had been struggling for consistency with only one win in their last five games, proved they were still a force to reckon with.

Tusker FC, aiming for a fifth consecutive win, fielded an unchanged side for the third game in a row, with the exception of Odoyo, who returned from injury to make the bench.

For Leopards, Kelly Madada earned his first start, while Victor Omune began on the bench. Lewis Bandi captained the side, with Sydney Lokale leading the attack.

First half

Leopards started strongly, quickly taking control of the game. Their dominance nearly paid off in the 16th minute when Lokale’s close-range effort was brilliantly saved by Tusker goalkeeper Joseph Ochuka.

Despite creating chances, Leopards had to wait until the dying moments of the first half to break the deadlock.

In first-half stoppage time, Leopards were awarded a penalty. Although Ochuka saved Lokale's initial spot-kick, Ovella Ochieng pounced on the rebound to give the visitors a 1-0 lead heading into halftime.

Second half

Leopards carried their momentum into the second half and doubled their lead in the 53rd minute.

Lokale made amends for his earlier miss, finishing off a brilliant assist from Madada to make it 2-0.

The visitors were relentless, and Madada continued to shine, providing another assist in the 63rd minute.

This time, subsititute Victor Omune found the back of the net, extending Leopards’ lead to 3-0.

Tusker struggled to contain the Leopards’ attacking prowess, and the situation worsened when Boniface Munyendo capitalized on a goalmouth scramble to score the fourth goal in the 79th minute.

The Brewers managed to pull one back in the 85th minute through substitute Boban Zirintusa. However, it was too little too late, as Leopards sealed a comprehensive 4-1 victory.

The win is a massive morale booster for AFC Leopards, who will look to build on this result in their upcoming fixtures. For the defeat is a wake-up call as they aim to regain their form and maintain their title ambitions.
