Speaking ahead of the Super Eagles tie against Guinea Bissau tomorrow, a member of the Djurtus' staff has revealed their plans to stop Osimhen

Ahead of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, Guinea Bissau’s media officer, Edgar Carlos Pires, has revealed how his side intends to stop Nigeria from karting away all three points.

 The Super Eagles of Nigeria host Guinea Bissau in the first leg of their AFCON 2023 Group A qualifiers hoping to continue where they left off after claiming six points from their first two matches in the group 

Guinea Bissau’s Djurtus have no intention to make it easy for their illustrious hosts, however, and according to Pires, they will be giving their all to spoil the Super Eagles’ day in Abuja.

Speaking to journalists, Pires lauded Nigeria’s history in African football and said his side would do everything they could on the pitch to stop the Super Eagles.

He told journalists, “Nigeria is one of the most dangerous national teams in Africa. Every time we saw Nigeria in the Africa Cup of Nations, and other competitions, they have, anytime, good players. 

“Like in this moment, good goalkeeper, midfield, and also in the attack good strikers with Victor Osimhen in there, for us one of the best strikers in this moment in the world.” 

Pires however noted that his sie would try their best to get a result in Abuja while noting that the task before Guinea Bissau was a difficult one. 

He said, “The team is ready to fight tomorrow. It is not easy, but we will try.” 

When asked what his team could do to curb Nigeria’s forwards like Osimhen and Ademola Lookman, he told Pulse Sports, “Every team know[s], Osimhen is Osimhen. We will try.” 

The Super Eagles of Nigeria will take on Guinea Bissau in the 2023 AFCON qualifying Group A fixture tomorrow by 5pm WAT.
