Speaking to RFI, Drogba highlighted Mbappe’s contributions to the national team, including his pivotal role in France’s 2018 World Cup triumph.

“He is still someone who has done a lot for France,” Drogba stated, adding, “He contributed to the second star and almost gave them the third. Now he is being heckled. It is the law in our sport—it is an ungrateful sport and we all know it.”

Kylian Mbappe had a night to forget for Real Madrid at Anfield.

Mbappe’s recent struggles at the club and international levels have fuelled a lot of criticism. While he has netted 11 goals since joining Real Madrid, his performances have fallen short of the sky-high expectations, with missed penalties in key matches compounding the pressure.

Drogba compares Mbappe to Tiger Woods

In his interview, Drogba drew a parallel between Mbappe’s current challenges and Tiger Woods’ struggles during a slump in his career.

“I see him a bit like Tiger Woods, who for a while struggled to re-discover his game, and once he re-discovered it, he became the Tiger that everyone loves, the Ivory Coast legend explained.

Drogba concluded, “Kylian is going through a period that isn’t simple […] I know him as a person, and yes, as a human being, he will have doubts. It is normal, but he is someone who has certainties too.”

As scrutiny intensifies, Drogba’s support serves as a reminder of Mbappe’s remarkable achievements in recent years and will certainly fill the Real Madrid forward to find his best form yet again.
