Ladan Bosso’s Flying Eagles had started their campaign with a disappointing 2-1 loss to Uganda in their first group game.
As a result, they went into the clash against South Sudan with pressure on their shoulders. The Flying Eagles did not start well, though, as they struggled to break down a stubborn South Sudan defence.

Flying Eagles coach Ladan Bosso exudes confidence. Nigeria, aiming to clinch the African Games title for the first time in fifty-one years, faces a formidable challenge.
Although they dominated possession, Bosso’s men failed to fashion clear-cut chances in the first half of the encounter.
The second half was more of the same, with the Flying Eagles failing to create any clear opening in attack.
However, Bosso’s men were eventually given a lifeline 12 minutes from time after they were awarded a penalty.
Sadiq Isyaka stepped up to convert the resulting penalty to put the Flying Eagles ahead. Isyaka’s penalty turned out to be the only goal of the game as Bosso’s men held on for the win.
The win puts the Flying Eagles on three points and in a good position to qualify for the semifinal of the competition.
Bosso’s men are currently joint-second with Senegal, who lost 1-0 to Uganda in the other group game.
The Flying Eagles’ next game is a clash with the Teranga Lions in a direct shootout for the second spot.
Falconets book Semifinal spot
While the Flying Eagles are yet to book their place in the semifinal, the Falconets do not have that trouble after they sealed their place in the last four following a 4-0 win over the Teranga Lionesses of Senegal.

The win ensures Nigeria’s place in the semi-final of the competition.
