Rabiu Ali of Kano Pillars is a close contender with 11 goals, three behind the league-leading top scorer, albeit having scored five from 12 yards to Yusuf's three.
The veteran midfielder has been instrumental to Pillars' progress so far, contributing to the Kano-based side's impressive form as they sit fourth in the standings, a point adrift of Rivers United and Shooting Stars (both have 43 points) and 12 behind table-topping Remo Stars (54).
