After their humiliating experience against Mamelodi Sundowns in the CAF Champions League match day four, Al Ahly is back on its feet again.
The 5-2 scoreline at the Loftus Versfeld on March 11th was the second time the Red Devils were humiliated by Masandawana, with the first coming in April 2019 (5-0).
Both remain Al Ahly’s heaviest defeats in their CAF Champions League history.
On Friday, the 10-time African champions needed to win away in Cameroon against Coton Sport in Garoua to revive their continental campaign, which they did in style.
The Red Devils obliterated the Cameroonian side 4-0, their biggest away win in the competition.
The loss eliminated Coton Sport, who sit bottom of the group with no points after six games.
Mahmoud Kahraba scored a hat-trick, while Bafana Bafana winger Percy Tau picked up two assists and a goal.
The win took Al Ahly to seven points after five match days, and they will be hoping Sundowns win away against second-placed Al Hilal on Saturday.
Florent Ibenge’s side is two points ahead of Al Ahly, and a win against Sundowns will bury Al Ahly’s chances of advancing from the group stages.
