Libyan contenders have settled in a luxurious hotel as anticipation builds for CAF Confederation Cup clash.

Libyan side Al Hilal Benghazi arrived in Nairobi on Wednesday afternoon ahead of their CAF Confederation Cup preliminary tie against Kakamega Homeboyz.

The contingent of 25 touched down at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport include players and club officials ahead of the first leg clash set for  Saturday, August 19, 2023 at Nyayo National Stadium.

Upon touchdown, the Benghazi contingent was swiftly whisked away to the luxurious Morvin Hotel in Nairobi’s Westlands area, where they will have the chance to regroup and strategize ahead of the high-stakes match. 

With anticipation building, the Libyan team is scheduled to hold their first training session at Utalii Grounds on Thursday, gearing up for a tactical showdown that promises to keep fans at the edge of their seats.

In preparation for the impending clash, Al Hilal Benghazi will move to the Nyayo National Stadium on Friday to acquaint themselves with the ground. 

Coach Mohamed Ouda expressed his insights to the press before the team's departure from Libya, acknowledging the challenges ahead.

“Our analysts have predicted that we will face a strong team, especially on the field. It will also be difficult for the team to get used to the climate in Nairobi,” he said.

Meanwhile, Kakamega Homeboyz earned their place in this prestigious tournament by securing victory against Tusker, clinching a hard-fought 1-0 win.

Their triumph not only granted them the Mozzart Bet Cup trophy but also the privilege of representing their nation in the esteemed CAF Confederation Cup. 

The first leg of this exhilarating encounter will pave the way for an exciting return fixture, as both teams will head to Libya for the second leg of the preliminary round on Sunday, August 27, 2023. 

The aggregate winner of these two clashes will earn the privilege to advance to the second preliminary round, where they will face off against Rayon Sport from Rwanda.
