With Busquets yet to sign a contract with Barcelona, clubs are starting to circle the midfielder
After capturing Cristiano Ronaldo, one of the biggest stars in world football, AL Nassr are not relenting in the squad-building efforts and have reportedly approached Barcelna’s Sergio Busquets, whose contract runs out in the summer.
Al Nassr looking to tempt Busquets
Busquets has yet to agree on the terms of a new contract with Barcelona, prompting speculation that the Blaugrana captain is ready to end his 18-year relationship with the club.
If Busquets were to truly leave Barcelona, he would not be short of suitors, and Al Nassr would want to be first in line to sign the 34-year-old midfielder.
Al Nassr already pulled off a major coup by getting Ronaldo to sign a record-breaking contract to play with the Saudi Pro League side for two years, and they are hoping they can pull off another coup with Busquets’ signing.
Busquets could team up with Ronaldo
If Busquets joins Al Nassr, he will be on the same team as one of his biggest rivals from the previous decade.
Being a mainstay in the Barcelona team from as far back as 2008, Busquets came face-to-face several times with Ronaldo, who joined Real Madrid in 2009, and they were sworn enemies for the nine years that they spent playing against each other in La Liga before Ronaldo moved to Juventus in Italy.
A partnership between Busquets and Ronaldo would be similar to former Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos joining forces with Barcelona legend Lionel Messi at Paris Saint-Germain, which raised eyebrows among fans who wondered how two players who spent the majority of their football careers hating each other would get along on the same team.
