Rising stars head coach names provisional Rising Stars squad for Malawi tournament, Including Aldrine Kibet, Tyrone Kariuki, Amos Wanjala and AFC Leopards' Hassan Beja.

Salim Babu has announced the Kenya National U20 football team, Rising Stars’s  provisional squad for the upcoming four-nation tournament set to take place in Malawi from March 18th to 26th, 2024.

The squad comprises a diverse mix of players from various teams participating in different FKF-run leagues across the country.

Notably, 12 players who showcased their skills in the 2023 CECAFA U18 Boys Championships have been included in the squad.

 Ibrahim Wanzala, recognized as the best goalkeeper, and Aldrine Kibet, the top scorer from the CECAFA U18 Boys' Championships 2023, headline the list of talented young players.

Among those earning call-ups are Junior Stars captain Amos Wanjala, Louis Ingavi, Syphas Otieno and  Baron Ochieng, all bringing their leadership and skills to the squad. 

The team also benefits from the experience of FKF Premier League players, including Mark Shaban and Paul Ochuoga from Gor Mahia, as well as Francis Kamau from Bidco United, Kakamega Homeboyz Junior Masinza, and Ulinzi Stars' Lucas Maina.

The squad features players from various tiers of Kenyan football, including FKF National Super League representatives like Rainbow FC midfielder Tyson Kariuki and Migori Youth midfielder Elly Owade.

 FKF Division One club players, such as MOFA duo Joseph Bate and Syphus Otieno, have also earned their places in the provisional squad.

The team is set to report to camp on Monday, March 11, 2024, as they prepare for the four-nation tournament, which serves a dual purpose.

 Apart from providing exposure for elite youth talent, the tournament acts as crucial preparation for the upcoming 2024 AFCON Under-20 qualifiers scheduled later this year.
