Algeria joined Morocco and hosts Ivory Coast to qualify for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations finals.

Algeria beat Niger 1-0 in Rades, Tunisia to become the third nation to qualify for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations finals to be held early next year in Ivory Coast.

The team’s head coach Djamel Belmadi had promised to win the back-to-back ties and qualify as early as possible and they did that.

Baghdad Bounedjah ran through to connect a through ball from team captain Riyadh Mahrez after only six minutes of play.

The win meant that Fennec Foxes cement their place at the top of Group F with an assailable 12 points with two matches to spare.

That now leaves Tanzania (4 points), Niger (2 Points) and Uganda with a single point to fight for the remaining spot.

They join hosts Ivory Coast and their North African neighbour Morocco in the finals. Morocco qualified following South Africa’s uninspiring 2-all draw against Liberia in Johannesburg last week.
