Mayele starred with a goal and an assist as Young Africans beat Marumo Gallants 2-1 in their CAF Confederations Cup semi-final second leg to advance to their maiden continental final 4-1 on aggregate.

Fiston Mayele continued to show the world why he is one of the most lethal forwards on the African continent after his man-of-the-match performance against Marumo Gallants at the Royal Bafokeng stadium on Wednesday night.

Mayele starred with a goal and an assist as Young Africans beat Marumo Gallants 2-1 in their CAF Confederations Cup semi-final second leg to advance to their maiden continental final 4-1 on aggregate.

"First of all, congrats to the team for the effort today, we had a target, and we achieved it; it feels great to have reached our first final in the CAF Confederations Cup," Mayele told Yanga TV.

"It was a challenging game, but personally, my target was to help the team reach the final, about the second goal."

"I knew I could outrun him (defender), and when I did, I saw Kennedy Musonda in a scoring position, so I passed to him, and he scored," he added.

Mayele has now scored six goals in the competition, level with Marumo's Ranga Chivaviro but could finish as the top scorer with Young Africans having made the final.

Young Africans will now face Algerian side USM Algiers in the two-legged final after they beat ASEC Mimosas 2-0 in the return leg to reach the final.

The first leg will take place on 28th May in Dar-es-Salaam, while the return leg will take place on 3rd June in Algiers.
