The playmaker might have made a few appearances for Lango Province in the FUFA Drum but he is carrying a nagging knee injury that will require surgery for him to return to his former best.

As the Uganda Cranes failed to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations, many football fans in Uganda agreed in unison that creating and scoring goals remains one of the country’s primary challenges.

The Cranes only managed five goals in the six games played, and two of those came against a Niger side that went into their last match of the qualifiers with nothing to fight for.

Head Coach Milutin Sredojevic and his charges were without the services of Allan Okello, one of the players who have been hyped to help solve the creativity problem that has haunted Uganda since time immemorial.

The playmaker might have made a few appearances for Lango Province in the FUFA Drum but he is carrying a nagging knee injury that will require surgery for him to return to his former best.

And while it was reported that the former KCCA FC darling had opted to stay back in Kampala instead of returning to his Algeria club Paradou, Pulse Sports now understands that Okello is back in North Africa to see out his contract.

It is also said that he will be undergoing surgery before rehabilitation to get back to full fitness.

Okello has reportedly endured discomfort and pain in his knee for over two years, dating back to his first stint at AC Paradou.

He was loaned out to KCCA last season and managed to contribute eight league assists and five goals before the expiry of his short stint at Lugogo.

Okello broke onto the scene at KCCA FC under Mike Mutebi and made his debut in 2017.

His debut came in February 2017, and he scored a hattrick against Onduparaka FC in a 7-1 win for the Kasasiro Boys.

He then moved to the Algerian outfit on a four-year deal but was loaned back to KCCA last season.
