The Uganda Hippos forward was unveiled to the media on Monday afternoon at Skys Hotel Naguru in Kampala.
Express FC head coach James Odoch has lauded the Ssali’s capture ahead of the new season, adding that it goes a long way in boosting the team’s attacking options upfront and scoring goals too.
“I approached Alpha, and he asked me to talk to his Dad (Bebecool), who I called, had a discussion with and agreed that he (Alpha) signs for Express FC,” Odoch noted.
“I have seen Alpha for over seven years from his time at Proline FC, and I believe he has the qualities to play at this club; I expect him to help us going forward, especially with his speed.”
Alpha Ssali is a product of the Proline Soccer Academy. Having joined the side at the age of four, he went on to feature in all the underage teams of Proline, including the first team when it featured in the FUFA Big League.
Alpha famously scored his first club goal in 2021 during Proline’s 4-1 Stanbic Uganda Cup win over Myda FC in the round of 32.
He becomes the Red Eagles’ second signing after striker Seif Batte who joined earlier in July.
The Red Eagles finished 10th last season; however, James Odoch will be looking to better that finish when the StarTimes Uganda Premier League gets underway in September.
