The 27-year-old has been one of the pivotal players that have helped Maroons FC have a great season by their standards.

Fred Amaku was one the most sought-after forwards at the end of last season as he helped Maroons earn promotion to the top flight when he scored 14 goals.

The 27-year-old has been one of the pivotal players that have helped Maroons FC have a great season by their standards.

Even though a brief injury scare has slowed him down a bit as the season nears the end, the pint-sized forward says he is ready to sign out better.

“I have been working hard the whole season, last season,” Amaku told Pulse Sports.

I was the top scorer in the Big League with 14 goals, but my target this season is to surpass that target by a goal,” he added.

The forward has been nursing a knock he picked up against URA FC, and even though he missed the massive 1-0 home win over Villa, Amaku says he is raring to go and end the season on a high by bettering his current 10-goal tally.

“I am going to bounce back better and hungrier; the target remains scoring 15, so five more to go,” noted the forward.

Maroons FC head coach Mohamed Senfuma also acknowledged Amaku’s absence against Villa hurt them a bit, saying had he been available, they could have won the game more comfortably.

“We knew Villa was a good team, but the players believed; we also got several chances, but we missed Amaku; had he been fit, we could have scored more than one.”

Senfuma says Amaku’s hard work and discipline have enabled them to get this far.

“Amaku deserves it; he works extremely hard, and the focus and ability to remain consistent goes without saying. Hopefully, he carries on like that.”

Gaddafi FC, Onduparaka FC, Express FC and BUL FC are the remaining games left for Maroons in the league, who sit fifth on 24 points after 24 games played.
