Amagu beat Vipers SC captain Milton Karisa and Busoga United FC's forward Laban Tibita to the award.

Maroons FC forward Fred Amaku and SC VIlla coach Jackson Magera are the Pilsner footballer and coach respectively for the month of December.

Amaku who is the SUPL joint-leading goal scorer so far with seven goals alongside Soltilo Bright Stars FC's Nelson Ssenkatuka netted three goals in five games in December.

Maroons struggled in that period winning only once against Gaddafi FC 1-0, a goal he scored while his other two goals came in the 2-2 and 1-1 stalemates against Onduparaka FC and Express FC respectively.

“Scoring goals is part of me and I am targeting hitting double figures and hopefully I win the golden boot,” Amaku said at the awarding ceremony held at Kati Kati on Friday evening.

“I was the top scorer when we were promoted to the UPL from the FUFA Big League and I am very happy to be scoring goals in the top flight."

“It is these awards that motivate you further and I will continue working hard together with my teammates,” he stated.

Amaku beat Vipers SC captain Milton Karisa and Busoga United FC's forward Laban Tibita to the award.

Amaku and Maroons finished the first round in the 10th position on the 15-team SUPL log with 15 points from 14 games and they will resume their second round away to Busoga United FC on February 9th.

SC Villa's Magera won thrice and drew once in the five games they played in December. The Jogoos defeated UPDF FC 2-0, Blacks Power FC 1-0, and Maroons 1-0 while they shared spoils with URA FC in a 1-1 draw.

“I am thrilled to have won this award and it shows how progressing we have been as a team,” Magera said at the Kati Kati before adding.

“There are over 15 coaches in the league but being the best performer in December is astonishing and I believe this is my best achievement as a coach.”

“We shall continue improving as a team and we are looking forward to the start of the second round of the season,” he added.

He shrugged off competition from BUL FC and KCCA FC head coaches Alex Isabirye and Morley Byekwaso respectively to win the accolade.

Magera's charges climaxed the first round seated fifth on the 15-team SUPL log with 24 points after 14 games and their second round commences on the road against Gaddafi.

Amaku and Magera received an accolade, a plaque, and UGX.1M each for their outstanding performances in December.

The awards were delayed given that the league had taken a break with the national team engaged in the 2022 African Nations Championship (CHAN) in Algeria.
