The long-standing Gor Mahia chairman has made a rallying call to the club's fans if it is to stand a chance of retaining its FKFPL title.

Gor Mahia chairman Ambrose Rachier has made a plea to the K'Ogalo faithful following the start of the new Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) season.

K’Ogalo drew 1-1 with Sofapaka in the opening match of the season, which was a very underwhelming result to kick the campaign off, but will be hoping to make amends for the result when they face Ulinzi Stars at the Ulinzi Sports Complex on Saturday afternoon.

Rachier has asked the fans to return to the stadium to support the club as it is a big ‘morale booster’ for the team.

“I want to invite our fans to return to the stadium,” Rachier told the club’s media team. “It is usually a big moral booster for the players when they have a cheering crowd of fans,” he added.

The chairman, who has made it clear he has no plans to extend his tenure beyond 2024 has promised that the side will deliver the 21st league title of the season by May next year when the season comes to a close.

“We advise them to return and we want to assure them that we want to take the 21st league title this season.”

In an earlier interview with Pulse Sports, Rachier had made a rallying call to the fans to turn up in large numbers as it would help boost the club’s matchday income.

“We need increased sponsorship. A club like this has financial challenges. You see, those who have been doing well financially have done so because they are corporate-owned. Corporate bodies have money which we need on a very serious note.

"I encourage our fans to return and watch games. If you collect upto a million shillings in a match, after eighteen home games you can collect 17 million shillings and above which is good revenue. Fans need to help us.”
