Amrouche will need more of that and luck as his predecessor German Kim Poulsen was shown the exit door after losing to Uganda cranes in a 2023 Africa Nations Championships qualifier with the fans baying for his blood.
Newly-appointed Tanzania National team head coach Adel Amrouche has rushed to reconcile and lure the Swahili nation’s football-mad population to his side ahead of a daunting 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign.
Amrouche who was announced officially on Tuesday evening by the Tanzania Football Federation did not hesitate to try and pull the fans to his side with his words
Amrouche will need more of that and luck as his predecessor German Kim Poulsen was shown the exit door after losing to Uganda cranes in a 2023 Africa Nations Championships qualifier with the fans baying for his blood.
“The most important [aspect] in this story is our supporters because this was the first thing that motivated me to come here,” the Belgo-Algerian started.
“In my 21 years of experience in coaching in Africa, I think only Congo and a bit of Algeria have I seen the support in Tanzania. When they’re together, they don’t only put pressure on the opponent but motivate the players [as well], I ask them to come and support their national team.
The 54-year-old will start from that same point Polsen left but this time against the senior Cranes team when they meet twice later this month in the 2023 Afcon Group F qualifiers.
“We’re going to build the story together because we’re not going to do this alone,” he lured the fans further.
Both Tanzania and Uganda sit bottom-side of the table with a point apiece from two games as Algeria and Niger lead with six and two points respectively.
