FIFA president issues statement on Vinicius Jr. racism incident
FIFA have released a statement credited to President Gianni Infantino supporting Real Madrid player Vinicius Junior after the Brazilian was heckled by racist fans during a LaLiga game against Valencia
Vinicius’ contract expires in 2024, the same as Ancelotti, and the Italian manager has reiterated that they will both be at Real Madrid until then, despite increased interest in the Brazilian forward recently.
Speaking ahead of Real Madrid's tie against Rayo Vallecano, Ancelotti said, “He knows very well that his future has to be here and the fact of leaving is not in his head. He feels that he wants to work for Real Madrid because he is in love with the club.”
Due to the current situation involving Vinicius and LaLiga, clubs like Manchester City and Manchester United have been on high alert as regards the winger’s availability and could force Real Madrid into selling if they convince the Brazilian to make the move.
The 2023 Summer window will represent the last window where the Spanish giants can command a reasonable transfer fee for Vinicius, and could be tempted to sell him if he decides he wants to leave.
