Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has had his say on Lionel Messi potentially returning to Barcelona at the end of this season
Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has weighed in on Lionel Messi’s rumoured return to Barcelona, telling Spanish publication Relevo exactly how he would feel if Messi returned to LaLiga.
Messi inches closer to Barcelona return
Messi has been touted to make a return to Barcelona after two years in France with Paris Saint-Germain as he grows more disillusioned with the Parc de Princes faithful, who are also losing patience with the Argentine.
Despite the financial hoops that Barcelona will have to jump through, the possibility of a return for Messi to LaLiga grows every day with more people lending their voice, and asking the argentine to return the club where he became a lend.
If Ancelotti remains Real Madrid manager next season, he could be faced with the unenviable task of having to face a Barcelona team with World Cup winner Lionel Messi in it, but the Italian manager appeared to be unfazed by that prospect in a recent interview.
Ancelotti unfazed by potential Messi reunion
Ancelotti suggested that he did not really care if Messi returned to Barcelona, as it changed nothing for him as Real Madrid manager, although he did state his admiration for the little man.
“Messi can do whatever he wants, and so can Barcelona, Ancelotti said, when asked about Messi’s possible return, before continuing, “It’s not an issue for me. I like Messi as a player.”
Ancelotti will not be too fazed by the prospect of facing Messi again having already knocked out his PSG side in the round of 16 of the 2021/22 UEFA Champions League as Real Madrid cruised to a 14th European crown last season.
Ancelotti and his Real Madrid side will be hoping to defend their title this season and have Manchester City to prepare for in the Semifinals.
