The experienced football administrator took on a new role at a place he calls home in Onduparaka as the club president after the club made wholesome structural managerial changes.

Not at any one point did Anthony Afeti imagine he would ever be club president in the Uganda football setting, at least not at a club he doesn't own, but all that is in the past.

The experienced football administrator took on a new role at a place he calls home in Onduparaka as the club president after the club made wholesome structural managerial changes.

Afeti, who will work under the supervision of a board of directors, has welcomed the challenge at the Caterpillars and stressed that he will do his best to help the club become better.

"I am humbled and honoured to start this new journey of serving the club of my dreams with this support and guidance," he noted.

"I know I can't be him (Nyakuni), but I am confident that with the lessons learnt over the years, the support of our amazing fans and guidance from God, I will succeed in this role."

"I want to thank the directors and board of the club for entrusting me with the responsibility of steering this club to the next level; I ask for your patience and support as we grow together," he added.

Onduparaka FC is expected to ring several changes as they prepare for life in the FUFA Big League for the first time in almost eight years.

The side gained promotion to the top flight in 2016 and created a buzz, especially during home games in the first three seasons, but all that came tumbling down as the club experienced a financial meltdown and player exodus.

The side has been responsible for the emergency of top players like Mohammed Shaban, Rashid Toha, Gaddafi Wahab, and Rashid Okocha, to mention but a few; some players have since gone on to feature for other clubs.
