The 21-year-old failed to score from the spot as the Gunners dropped more points.
Arsenal forward Bukayo Saka has broken his silence after missing a penalty in the 2-2 draw against West Ham United on Sunday.
The club’s academy graduate had a chance to make it 3-1 for the Gunners in the 52nd minute, but he missed his spot-kick. After the miss, the Hammers quickly equalized – through Jarrod Bowen - before the two London opponents eventually shared the points from the draw.
"Regardless of the outcome, I’ll always accept my responsibility. Apologies, Gunners. I’ll do everything I can to make it right," Saka wrote on his Instagram account.
Despite missing the penalty, his boss Mikel Arteta defended him and affirmed that the youngster will remain the club’s penalty taker.
"At some point, you’re going to miss," said Arteta after the game. "That’s it. You have been able to react to that after. If you cannot do that then you cannot be a penalty taker.

PREMIER LEAGUE ‘Arsenal need ruthless and killer mindset’ – Arteta
The gap between the Gunners and Manchester City has reduced to four points, but the latter has a game in hand.
"Bukayo has been through that and he will go through that again. If I had to pick one player to do it, it would be him again. In that moment we missed it and this is football."
Meanwhile, Roy Keane believes Saka will bounce back after the miss on Sunday.
"We’ve seen great players miss penalties," the former Manchester United star told Sky Sports.

PREMIER LEAGUE ‘West Ham were basically dead’ – Odegaard
The Norwegian says stupid things on their part gave the Hammers’ life.
"It’s pressure, as simple as that. He’s a brilliant player [Saka], and he’ll respond to that as he always does. It’s a big point for West Ham, and they deserved it in the second half."
Despite the failure to successfully convert the second-half penalty, the Three Lions star has been outstanding for Arsenal. He has registered 12 goals and 10 assists as the London team hopes to end a long wait for a Premier League title.
Additionally, Saka became the first league player to reach double figures in goals and assists this term and is the first Arsenal player to do so since Alexis Sanchez in 2016–17.
He has been named Arsenal’s Player of the Season for the last two campaigns in a row.
