Arsenal begins 2023/24 UEFA Champions League campaign with a comfortable win at home to PSV
Nearly 60,000 roaring fans packed up the Emirates Stadium to witness Arsenal's first Champions League game in seven years and they got their money's worth.
The Gunners began the 2023/24 Champions League journey in Group B with a convincing 4-0 win against Dutch side PSV.
Bukayo Saka, Leandro Trossard, Gabriel Jesus and Martin Odegaard all got on the score sheet in an emphatic rout.
Arsenal's fast start
The Gunners did most of the heavy lifting for this game in the first half with a lightning-fast start to quickly unsettle PSV.
Bukayo Saka opened the scoring on the eighth-minute mark, pouncing on a loose ball to fire home a rebound which was his first Champions League goal.
Saka would then go from scorer to provider when he set up Leandro Trossard in the 20th minute but most of the credit would go to the Belgian forward who finished emphatically from just outside the box.
Speaking of emphatic finishes, there would be another in the first half with Gabriel Jesus lashing home a shot in the 38th minute after being well picked out by the impressive Trossard.

The Gunners were well and truly purring, ending the first half with seven of their 10 goal attempts on target.
Arsenal sealed the win in the second half
By the time the second half kicked off, the result was pretty much a formality but Arsenal continued to be unrelenting.
Arteta rang the changes I'm the second half with Reiss Nelson, Takehiro Tomiyasu, Emile Smith-Rowe, Fabio Vieira and Jorginho all getting minutes.
Nelson would make his mark though as he is officially credited with the assist for Arsenal's fourth which was scored by Martin Odegaard.
The captain received the ball from a deep area, skipped past challenges and fired home a low drive from long range to make it 4-0 in the 70th minute.

It was an ultimately routine win for the in-form Gunners who made their return to the big time like they never left.
The result equalled PSV's biggest ever Champions League defeat but the visitors had encouraging spells to draw positives from.
