Arsenal sent a strong message to their Premier League rivals by thrashing French side RC Lens in the UCL group stage tie

Arsenal continued their dominant streak in Group C of the UEFA Champions League with a resounding 6-0 beat down of RC Lens.

The Gunners appeared to be motivated by the disappointment of the reverse fixture in which they lost 2-1 in France which still remains the only blemish on their Champions League campaign so far.

An utterly dominant first half display saw Arteta's men lead 5-0 at halftime, becoming the first English side to do so in the Champions League

Arsenal 6-0 Lens

The Gunners took a short while to get on the score sheet but when they got going, there was no stopping them as Kai Havertz opened the scoring in the 13th minute off a Gabriel Jesus assist.

The Brazilian number nine then followed suit with a goal of his own, showing quick thinking and quicker feet to convert in the 21st minute after being set up by Bukayo Saka.

Just two minutes later, Saka then scored to keep the trend going with Gabriel Martinelli heavily involved.

Martinelli also got to add the fourth in the 27th minute, curling home past the helpless Brice Samba.

Lens found a way to stop the bleeding a little bit but not for long as captain Martin Odegaard added a fifth goal on the stroke of halftime.

The Gunners took their foot off the pedal in the second half but still crowned it off with a sixth goal, Jorginho stepped up to convert a penalty won by the lively Martinelli.

That result sealed Lens' fate and ended all qualification hopes while Arsenal are now confirmed as the winners of Group B.
