Arsenal make opening bid of £60m for Chelsea's Kai Havertz, personal terms agreed
Arsenal have made an opening verbal offer worth £60million for Chelsea attacker Kai Havertz as the Gunners look to seal the German's signature.
He has been offered a long-term contract which will see him earn a minimum of £210,000 per week. According to reports from the Daily Mail, the player's representatives have been in close contact with Arsenal representatives over the previous 48 hours knowing that an agreement was close.
Havertz will undergo a medical examination before signing his contract with the North London club. Having seen their original offer of £50 million turned down last week, Arsenal had continued talks with Chelsea over agreeing on a fee for the German international.
Havertz joined Chelsea in 2020 and has been a regular starter under the last five managerial periods at the beleaguered West London club.
Arsenal have hinted that as well as operating as a No 10 or a No 8 in Arteta's starting XI, the club plans to use Havertz interchangeably in any of the three attacking positions at the top of a 4-3-3 system.
