Arsenal keep another clean sheet away from home
Arteta’s team have often produced impressive road performances since the start of last season, typically giving little away and striking efficiently at the other end to seal commendable results.
Saturday was no different, with Arsenal keeping another shutout in the 2-0 success, taking them to six consecutive away matches in which the opponents have been denied a goal since Nottingham Forest scored in Arsenal’s 2-1 win over the Tricky Trees in January.
Since that Taiwo Awoniyi goal, Arteta’s men have prevented West Ham United (6-0), Burnley (5-0), Sheffield United (6-0), Manchester City (0-0), Brighton & Hove Albion (3-0) and Wolves (2-0) from finding the back of the net.
Only Chelsea (2008) and Manchester United (2009) have gone on longer streaks without letting in a goal away from London and Manchester, respectively, with both clubs enjoying a seven-match run.
Chelsea's run began with a 2-0 triumph over Stoke City in September 2008, and the Blues prevented Middlesbrough (5-0), Hull City (3-0), Blackburn Rovers (2-0), West Bromwich Albion (3-0), Bolton (2-0) and Everton (0-0) from scoring before Fulham ended that streak in December.
Sir Alex Ferguson’s Red Devils matched that Chelsea feat soon after having begun with a shutout at Aston Villa (0-0) before preventing Manchester City (1-0), Tottenham Hotspur (0-0), Stoke (1-0), Bolton (1-0), West Brom (5-0) and West Ham (1-0) in a run that began in November 2008 and was halted by Newcastle United (2-1) in March 2009.
