Arsenal move five points clear at the top of the Premier League table with a resounding 4-0 victory over Everton.

Arsenal resisted an early scare from Everton, playing their way into dominance as the game progressed, then capping it off with ruthlessness in a statement 4-0 win over Everton.

Arsenal got their revenge against Everton after Sean Dyche's men handed them only their second loss of the win at the time in Goodison Park. The Gunner played hosts this time at the Emirates, returning the favour with a loud 4-0 scoreline, sending a message to Manchester City in second.

Bukayo Saka got Arsenal ahead in the 40th minute of the game before setting up Martinelli to double the Gunners' lead in the first-half added time.

Martine Odegard made it three in the 71st minute of the game, and Martinelli capped off the scoring on the day with his second for a brace in the 80th minute.

The win takes Arsenal five points clear at the top of the Premier League table, while Everton missed a chance to pull themselves out of the relegation places.

How it happened

Everton started vibrantly, with a level of solidity that suggested a similar outcome as the win at Goodison Park. However, individual brilliance broke the deadlock for Arsenal, with Zinchenko finding Saka in space, who in turn moved away from approaching defenders in the box to release a thunderous shot with his less dominant foot.

It was a case of a downpour when it finally rained, as Arsenal doubled their lead soon after when Saka poked the ball off an unsuspecting defender towards Martinelli, who made no mistake with his finish. A VAR check was conducted after the goal for a possible foul or offside, but the goal was deemed legal.

The Toffees remoulded their block in the second-half, but Arsenal cracked it once more with Odegard connecting to a Trosard ground low cross that hit the outstretched foot of a defender and went into the net. It was four soon after from an almost similar move, Nketiah was with the delivery this time, and Martinelli was at the end of it, poking home for a simple finish.
