Arsenal are now frontrunners in the race for to sign West Ham midfielder Declan Rice at the end of the season.
Arsenal's interest in Declan Rice is common knowledge by now but the complexity of the deal had created some doubts in recent weeks.
Arsenal favourites to land Rice
According to a recent report from the reputable Football Insider, the Gunners have now emerged as favourites to acquire his services this summer.
Mikel Arteta's men are in the market for a new central midfielder this summer and Rice fits the bill perfectly.
The Gunners also retain an interest in Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Moises Caicedo but that move is made a little complicated by the fact the signed a new contract at the Amex Stadium in February.
The report also adds that Chelsea and Newcastle are unlikely to move forward with their interest for varying reasons, which leaves a clear path for Arsenal to swoop in and complete what would be an outstanding deal.
Rice has earned move
Rice has been in excellent form for West Ham this season despite being embroiled in a relegation battle for the most part.
He has once again been their best player and has captained the side exceptionally through tough times. The good news is the Hammers now look to be trending towards safety with recent good results.
