The Crystal Palace star will never play for Nigeria after confirming his international future

Former Arsenal and Barcelona striker Thierry Henry has confirmed that Crystal Palace winger, Michael Olise has made a final decision on his complex international future.

Having played for France at youth level and being called up for the upcoming Olympic Games in Paris, Olise also holds eligibility to represent England, Algeria, and Nigeria, but has decided where he will pitch his international tent.

Olise set for French future

Recent statements from Henry, who is currently the manager of the French Olympic squad, suggest that Olise's decision is leaning towards Les Bleus.

Last month, England manager Gareth Southgate expressed interest in Olise but did not include him in the squad for the summer’s Euros. Didier Deschamps also omitted Olise from the French team, leaving his international options wide open.

However, according to Thierry Henry, the situation is clearer than it appears, with Olise showing a strong desire to play for France. Speaking in a recent interview, Henry said, "We know that he has plenty of possibilities but he wants to play for France. If he was English, he would have already left to play for England."

Super Eagles suffer Olise blow

For Nigerian fans, Henry’s revelation is a significant blow, as it seems unlikely that Olise will ever don the Super Eagles jersey.

Despite Olise’s call-up to the French squad for the Olympic games in Paris, a few fans of the Super Eagles has kept hope that the Crystal Palace winger would one-day switch allegiances to represent Nigeria in the future, but that possibility is all but over.

Olise was in fine form for Crystal Palace in the Premier League and recovered from an early season injury to score 10 goals and provide six assists in only 19 league games.
