Paul Merson believes Chelsea should have signed the perfect Victor Osimhen alternative before deadline day.
Arsenal legend Paul Merson has expressed surprise that Chelsea didn't snap up West Ham United striker Niclas Fullkrug during the summer transfer window.
Despite a busy summer of signings, including Jadon Sancho, Joao Felix, and Pedro Neto, the Blues failed to land a center forward, with their pursuit of Victor Osimhen ultimately proving unsuccessful.
"I'm a big fan of Niclas Fullkrug and I think he could have made a real difference at Chelsea," Merson said.
"He's a talented player who can make an impact, as we saw when he scored for Germany during the international break. I'm surprised Chelsea didn't make a move for him, especially given their lack of a proper striker."

I’m sorry Osimhen left — Napoli legend says Napoli have a top striker in Lukaku to replace Victor
Former Napoli midfielder Marek Hamsik discussed Victor Osimhen's exit from Naple.
Chelsea made a deadline-day move for Osimhen but failed to meet his salary demands, ultimately causing the deal to collapse.
The Blues are expected to go back in for the Nigerian striker in the January window, as his loan move to Galatasaray contains a break clause for specific teams in the winter window.
