Jorginho has disclosed how he persuaded Kai Havertz, a former teammate from Chelsea, to join him at Arsenal.

The Italian joined the Gunners in the January transfer window and has played 16 times for Arsenal so far.

His fellow Chelsea teammate Kai Havertz joined Arsenal this summer for £60 million after a poor season with the Blues.

Over the years, a lot of Chelsea players have moved to Arsenal, with Jorginho becoming the most recent after joining the Gunners in January.

However, he has now asserted that he instantly got in touch with the German international as soon as he realised Havertz might join him in north London.

The 31-year-old spoke on Arsenal's YouTube channel saying how he spoke to Kai Havertz about joining Arsenal.

Asked about Havertz’s arrival at Arsenal, Jorginho told Arsenal's YouTube channel as reported by Daily Mail, “It’s very nice.

“When I heard there was a possibility, I called him straight away. I said, “Is this true?” He said “Yeah, it’s possible”. I was like, “You need to come!”

“I just wanted the best for everyone… Everyone wins. He wins because it’s a good project for him and it’s going to be amazing for the club and the team as well. So it was a win-win.”

Havertz made his debut appearance in an Arsenal shirt in the scrimmage last week against Nuremberg after signing a £65 million contract with the club.

Havertz hopes to have a significant impact at Arsenal, and it will be interesting to see how Mikel Arteta employs him.

Arsenal has also acquired defender Jurrien Timber from Ajax in addition to the acquisitions of Rice and Havertz.

After coming second in the Premier League last season, the Gunners will also try to contend for the crown this year.

Arteta wants to make sure Arsenal has the squad depth to handle their return to the Champions League.
